Paneer “tikka” spicy gravy Recipe

Recipe Type: Lunch/Dinner  Recipe Cuisine: Indian
Preparation Time: 20 minsCooking time: 50 mins     | serves: 2-3

Paneer tikka gravy is among my favorite gravies. I love its taste and masala used in it gives a great flavor. Its tastes best among all other paneer gravy masala recipes. This recipe needs double work and time…first you have to work for making tikka and then you need sufficient time to prepare gravy..But I am sure that once you make it, you will love its taste...just perfect taste as we get in restaurant...or may be even better….if you are ready to give it a try then view the ingredients needed to prepare this recipe and follow the procedure to make this delighful recipe.

Ingredients:

12-15 paneer cubes
1 capsicum (chopped)
1 onion (chopped)
1 tomato (chopped)
7-8 toothpicks (soaked in cold water for 15 minutes)
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste

Gravy Masala Ingredients:
4 tomatoes
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
2-3 green chili

Kitchen utensils required:
  • 1 non-stick pan (I prefer: Vinod Zest Non- Stick Friendly Pan)
  • 1 Spatula (I prefer: PINDIA Wooden Curved Spoons)
  • 25 bowls (I prefer: Borosil Mixing Bowl)
  • 1 Chopper (I prefer: Genius Nicer Dicer Plus Multi Chopper Vegetable Cutter Fruit slicer)
  • 1 Microwave ( I prefer: IFB 25DGSC1 25-Litre 1400-Watt Convection Microwave Oven )

Step by step procedure:

Step-1 Prepare paneer tikka
In a bowl add paneer cubes, capsicum, onion, tomato and all the tikka masala ingredients. Mix well. Keep bowl in freezer for 15 minutes to marinade.

Step-2 Take out your tikka bowl from freezer and take toothpick, insert one by one tikka’s to the stick. Don’t throw leftover of tikka in bowl, use it in gravy. Prepare all the tikka’s and put microwave in convection mode and set 200.C to preheat microwave for 6-7 minutes. Apply oil on high rack and place tikka’s on rack. Also apply oil on tikka's. Cook it from both sides (each side 10-12 minutes) in convection mode until cooked well. Now remove all toothpicks from tikka’s.

Step-3 Make Tikka gravy
Heat nonstick deep fry pan, add oil, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, star anise, tejpatta and fry them for few seconds. Now add ginger garlic paste and fry it. Make fine paste of all the gravy masala ingredients in a grinder. Add masala paste in pan, cover it with lid and cook it for 4-5 minutes at low flame.

Step-4 When masala is cooked well then add leftover of tikka to masala and stir well. Now add tikka’s to the masala and mix everything very well. Now at low flame add milk (slowly with continuous stir) and let it boil once. When it is cooked then add salt, water and let it cook for 2 minutes on medium flame. Your tikka gravy is ready.
Garnish it with coriander leaves, cream, grated paneer, tomatoes, green chili……
Serve hot with plain paratha or enjoy it with pulav…

Tips:

  • Don’t add too much water for gravy.
  • Cook gravy masala very well.
  • Always add milk on low flame and slowly with continues stir otherwise milk will curdle.
  • Don’t add too much besan to the mix.
  • Always soak toothpicks in water before use otherwise it will burn in microwave.
  •  If you have grill option in your oven, you need not set the temperature or preheat it. Just choose the grill option and start the oven with the grilling pan inside it.
