"Green Pea"-Gravy



"Green Pea-Gravy" Recipe

Green pea is among most popular vegetables of India. Many dishes can be prepared using green pea and tastes really fabulous. As a dry variant, you can simply fry green pea in little oil, red chili and salt, which gives a great natural taste. I am sure that every age group people of india loves to have something made of green pea, specially during winters. Today I am very excited to share something where gravy is made using green pea. It goes very well with plane rice. My mother use to make it. It is little time consuming recipe, but once prepared…flavor is mind-blowing. Other veggies, generally used in less quantity and the masala enhances its flavor. A perfect desi food with goodness of vegies and great taste comming from selected spices. Come with me to start preparing this recipe…. patience is the keyword.
 
 Ingredients:
1 cup pea
3 large onions
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
1 star anise
1 small stick Cinnamon
1 potato (boiled)
1 big tomato
3-4 peace of cauliflower (boiled)
3 teaspoon oil

Gravy Masala Ingredients:
2 small teaspoon coriander seeds
1 black cardamom
1 black clove
1/2 stick cinnamon
5-6 Black Pepper seeds
8-9 garlic clove
3-4 red chili
1 teaspoon turmeric powder




                                   




















Kitchen utensils required:
  • 1 Deep iron pan /non-stick pan (I prefer: Vinod Zest Non- Stick Friendly Pan)
  • 1 Spatula (I prefer: PINDIA Wooden Curved Spoons)
  • 18 bowls (I prefer: Borosil Mixing Bowl)
  • 1 Mixer-grinder( I prefer: Prestige Hero 550- Watt Mixer Grinder)
  • 1 Chopper (I prefer: Genius Nicer Dicer Plus Multi Chopper Vegetable Cutter Fruit slicer)
  • 1 cooker (I prefer: Prestige Popular Aluminum Pressure Cooker, 3 Liters)

  • 1 Water jug


   



Step by step procedure:
Make 3 Forms of peas
Step-1 First form
Take 5 teaspoon of peas and grind it to very fine paste in a grinder.
Step-2 Second form
Take 3 teaspoon of peas and coarsely grind it in grinder.
Step-3 Third form
Take 4 teaspoon peas and just boil it in a cooker. 

Make gravy
Step-1 Make fine paste of all the gravy masala ingredients in a grinder. 
Step-2 Heat the deep iron fry pan/non-stick pan, add oil, star anise, cumin seeds, cinnamon and add finely chopped onion then fry it. 
Step-3 Now add paste of gravy masala ingredients, chopped tomato  to onion and mix everything well. Now cover it with lid and cook masala for 4-5 minutes at low flame. 
Step-4 When masala is cooked properly ten add first form and second form of peas. Now mix everything well and cook it for 2 minutes on low flame as shown in fig below.

Step-5 Now add third form of peas, boiled potato, cauliflower, salt, and water . Mix everything well then cover pan with lid and cook it on medium flame for 3-4 minutes as shown in figure below.


 Garnish it with finely chopped coriander leaves.
 Enjoy it with plane rice…….!!
Tips:
  • You can also use non-stick pan to make this spicy gravy, but making this recipe in iron karahi is very traditional.
  • Make sure to continuously stir while preparing it because in iron utensils food cook very fast.
