“Crispy Namakpara” Recipe

Recipe Cuisine: Indian | Recipe Category: Snack
Prep Time: 40 mins    | Cook time: 15 mins     | Serves: 2-3

Namakpara is another traditional general homemade snack of Northern India. Lots of people prefer this with tea. Namakpara is very crunchy and easy to prepare. We have to be little careful while preparing it to get as crunchy and tasty namakpara as you get in bakery. This recipe is prepared with maida (flour) that you can easily get in market. You can prepare namakpare in bulk quantity; preserve it in a container for long time and enjoy it with tea.

Ingredients:

Oil to deep fry

Dough Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour(maida)
Pinch of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
¼ teaspoon mangrail(kalonji)
3 -4 teaspoon refine oil or ghee
Salt as per your taste
Cold water(as required)

Kitchen utensils required:
  • 1 non-stick pan (I prefer: Vinod Zest Non- Stick Friendly Pan)
  • 1 Spatula (I prefer: PINDIA Wooden Curved Spoons)
  • 5 bowls (I prefer: Borosil Mixing Bowl)

  •  1 Water jug

Step by step procedure:

Prepare dough

Step-1 Take bowl, add maida, ghee, baking powder, salt, ajwain and mangrail. Mix everything very well.

Step-2 Add cold water and knead the dough very well.

Step-3 Keep aside dough for 30-40 minutes in a warm place.

Prepare Crispy Namakpara
Step-1 Take out bowl of dough. Now take small part (big lemon size) of dough, apply oil on flat surface where you will prepare namakpara. Now put it on that flat surface and with the help of rolling pin roll it in shape of big thin roti.
Step-2 Now cut big roti in shape of namakpara.
Step-3 Heat deep fry pan, add oil to deep fry. When oil is super-hot then add few of namakpara at a time and switch the flame to medium. Cook it from all the sides. Similarly prepare all namakpara’s.
When done, enjoy it with chaat masala, tomato catch-up and tea.

Tips:

  • Make sure to keep flame low to medium flame while frying namakpara’s.
